The ARX 2013 workshop will use hands-on robotics programming projects and other computational thinking activities to give participants insights into the prospects of studying computer science and other related subjects at the tertiary level.

Ashesi University College, in partnership with The MasterCard Foundation, is pleased to announce the second annual Robotics and Computer Science training camp for high school students, the Ashesi Robotics Experience (ARX) 2013. ARX 2013 is a weeklong program, running from 12th to 16th August 2013, which aims to inspire high school students to study computer science, engineering and other related fields at the university level. Sixty-four selected students from various Ghanaian high schools will participate in this year’s program.
The Ashesi Robotics Experience
The workshop will use hands-on robotics programming projects and other computational thinking activities to get participants excited about the prospect of studying computer science and other related subjects at the tertiary level. The participants will learn to build and program robots, using the Lego Mindstorm Kit and NXT (for Lego Mindstorm).

Participants will also get to live on Ashesi’s campus and will be closely mentored by a team of Ashesi faculty and students. The ARX 2013 is offered in partnership with The MasterCard Foundation and will therefore be completely free for participants. The selected students will also get an opportunity to learn about opportunities for full scholarships to study at Ashesi provided by The MasterCard Foundation for bright but needy students.
