Teaching Statement

My teaching philosophy is that learning experiences must be made fun and exciting using strategies including role playing, discussions, demonstrations, analysis of model case studies and storytelling to demystify difficult concepts. As a professional teacher, I believe in stimulating and encouraging critical thinking to enable my students arrive at best solutions to problems rather than provide answers to resolve issues. Learning is best accomplished when enjoyed. Accordingly, I make my classroom atmospheres interesting with humor and encourage active student participation. I help students come out with ground rules to guide their classroom behavior.

As a lifelong learner, I promote a similar attitude in my students. I make my courses rigorous and demanding, merging theory and practice with the hope that my students will leave my class more excited and knowledgeable about the course with a curiosity to satisfy. I believe in helping students know as much about themselves and the world around them and how to manage both in order to thrive, equipping them with skills and knowhow to excel wherever they find themselves. Helping students to learn is what I have been doing for over two decades and continue to do.

Research Statement

My goal is to research and propose solutions to thorny issues in society. As an OD/HRM/ADR Consultant and instructor, I contact organisations and help them go beyond best practices to their next practices. My research activities inform my teaching/training and learning activities which enable me to continuously improve upon my delivery. My interest originates from the knowledge, skills, and competencies I gain from my consulting activities in both private and public sectors for decades and the numerous training programs I attend/conduct locally and abroad.
