Ashesi’s 16th Commencement ceremony comes off at 11.00 AM GMT on May 15th, 2021, and will be the first of two virtual Commencement events to be held this year. After navigating a year like no other, we are excited to join the members of Ashesi’s Class of 2020 and Ashesi’s Class of 2021 in celebrating the completion of their time as students at Ashesi. Despite hoping for in-person celebrations, we are going virtual to limit any risks to health and safety. The virtual ceremony for the Class of 2021 will be held on June 5th, 2021, with more details to follow soon.
Commencement Keynote Speaker
We are pleased to share that Lisa Opoku, Global Chief Operating Officer and Global Strategist for Goldman Sachs, will be the Guest Speaker for Ashesi’s Class of 2020 Commencement Ceremony. Born to Ghanaian parents in the U.S, Opoku brings over two decades of leadership experience working across various roles around the world. Read more

Joachim Asare ’20 will be Class Speaker for our first virtual ceremony this year. An Electrical and Electronics Engineering major, and a Mastercard Foundation Scholar, Joachim will share the collective experiences, lessons and ambitions of the Class of 2020.
Livestream and Social Media
The event will be streamed live on Ashesi’s Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter channels. You are welcome to join in the celebration, share photos and videos using the hashtags #Ashesi2020 and #AshesiGrad. There will be live tweets of the event using the same hashtag.
On-Campus Photography
Due to COVID-19 protocols, graduates looking to visit campus for photography should request clearance from the Student Affairs Office.
