Students can explore internships, National Service placements, and full-time roles, while employers engage career-ready candidates prepared for leadership, innovation, and impact.

The Ashesi Career Fair is more than just a recruitment event—it’s a platform where students and employers engage, network, and explore exciting career opportunities. Organized by Ashesi Career Services, the fair brings together top organizations from various industries, offering students the chance to connect with potential employers, discover internship and job openings, and gain valuable career insights. 

Students

Students can access career support through quick drop-in sessions or scheduled one-on-one appointments with their year-group career advisors. Each student is required to have at least one advising session, ensuring personalized guidance.

Students are required to complete their Focus2Career assessments before booking a one-on-one advising session. Focus2Career is an AI-powered career development platform that supports self-discovery, career exploration, and skill development. Advisors use these insights to provide more personalized and focused guidance.

After completing step one, the services team will contact and connect you to a relevant evaluator to validate your documentation or help you obtain one, and work with you to establish your reasonable accommodations.  

We help prepare students for the job market through mock interviews and tailored job search strategies that build confidence and sharpen professional skills.

We guide students in exploring internships, full-time jobs, and graduate study opportunities that align with their goals. Career advisors provide support with applications, preparation, and decision-making, helping students take confident steps toward their next career milestone. 

The Ashesi Career Mentorship Program connects students with experienced professionals who provide guidance, advice, and access to real-world learning opportunities. Over three months, mentors help students build key competencies such as leadership, networking, and career advancement skills. Through personalized conversations and flexible engagement, students gain industry insights, strengthen professional skills, and expand their networks, preparing them to succeed in their chosen paths.

The Internship Program, facilitated by Ashesi Career Services, provides students with opportunities to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings, build professional networks, and gain valuable work experience before graduation. 

Internships serve as a bridge between academic learning and the professional world, equipping students with critical skills and industry exposure. Through our partnerships with leading organizations across various industries, students gain access to internship placements that enhance their career readiness.

Internship Requirements 

All Ashesi students are encouraged to complete at least one internship before graduation. The program is designed to ensure students gain real-world exposure, develop industry-specific skills, and expand their professional networks.

The Ashesi Job Shadowing Program is an experiential learning initiative designed to help first-year students make informed decisions about the careers they want to explore while in university. It is an unpaid, short-term workplace immersion program that is designed to help students gain basic understanding of the workplace and help begin their career exploration. 

Benefits of Job Shadowing 

By participating in the Job Shadowing Program, students: 

  • Gain first-hand exposure to various career fields and industries. 
  • Learn about workplace culture, expectations, and professional etiquette. 
  • Build connections with experienced professionals and mentors. 
  • Develop a clearer understanding of potential career paths. 

How the Program Works 

Matchmaking: Students are paired with professionals based on their career interests. Some of these areas of interest include Networking, Public Speaking, Interpersonal Relationship, Leadership, Career Advancement and Job specific/Technical skills. 

Observation & Engagement: For 1–3 weeks, the students will have the opportunity to shadow and learn from seasoned professionals, observe and ask questions, work on a broad range of projects and gain hands-on practical insight and exposure into prospective careers. 

Reflection & Career Coaching: After the experience, students debrief with career services advisors to reflect on their learning and next steps.

We offer a comprehensive program to support graduating seniors as they transition from academic life to professional careers. This initiative includes events such as the “Seniors Exit Strategy Lunch,” which provides a platform for final-year students to engage in discussions about career planning, job search strategies, and networking opportunities.  

The program emphasizes personalized career coaching, skill development workshops, and connections with industry professionals to ensure that graduates are well-prepared to enter the workforce confidently. By participating in these activities, seniors gain valuable insights and resources to effectively navigate the job market and achieve their professional goals. 

We collaborate with the Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI) to provide students with structured, one-on-one mentorship aimed at enhancing their professional development and career readiness. This partnership connects Ashesi students with experienced professionals worldwide, offering guidance and support as they transition from academia to the workforce. GMI’s 14-week structured curriculum, students develop and polish the critical soft skills necessary for a young professional to successfully launch their career. 

For Recruiters

The Employers Forum is a biennial event that strengthens collaboration between Ashesi and employer partners. It provides a platform to learn about Ashesi’s latest developments, explore partnerships, and shape talent pipelines. Employers engage with faculty, share industry feedback, connect with Career Services, and expand their networks, while gaining visibility and access to future-ready graduates. The forum also serves as an appreciation of employers’ vital role in preparing students for meaningful careers.

Mentorship is flexible—ranging from one-on-one guidance to participating in structured programs—and provides a meaningful way to shape future leaders while strengthening your connection to Ashesi’s talent community.
