One Bond, Different Paths: The Story of the Yartey Twins

Twins and lovers of football, you might think they would want to pursue the same careers, but not the Yartey twins. Christian, a Mechanical Engineering major, and Christine, a Business Administration major, have always relied on each other’s different strengths. They have each identified their individual talents and supported one another without fail. Christine, with her strength in liberal arts, would always review her brother’s essays, while Christian, who excels in the sciences, would break down difficult lessons for her.

During their time at Faith Montessori School, they both engaged in sports, Christine in track and field, and both in football. Her passion for sports led her to run for Sports Prefect in her second year, while Christian ran for Head Boy. As Sports Prefect, Christine founded a Sports Media team that covered every sporting activity, capturing games, conducting interviews, and creating content for the school’s social media platforms. They described the process of campaigning, becoming student leaders, and balancing it with their academics as a demanding balance.

“The most memorable moment for me during the election,” Christian shared, “was when I ended my manifesto reading with the Jude Bellingham ‘arms to crown’ celebration. Since most of the students knew the gesture, it became the talk of the day.”

As founding members of the Glee Foundation, an initiative that spreads joy among children in orphanages, they continue to give back to their community. Their participation in the Ashesi Innovation Experience (AIX) further affirmed their individual career paths. Christine explained how the difficulty of finding good, affordable skincare for aquagenic pruritus—a condition she lives with—inspired her to develop a prototype, which she hopes to refine on Ashesi’s campus.

At Ashesi, the twins are eager to immerse themselves in campus life—joining football clubs and volunteering at the University Health Center. In their own words: “We won’t miss out on any fun parties on campus. Don’t be surprised when you see us!”

They carry a constant reminder from their mother: “Remember your roots, do your best, and make us proud.” Just as they have always complemented each other’s strengths, they plan to bring the same collaborative spirit to the businesses they want to build and the meaningful projects they look forward to tackling with other students.
