Strange how a single conversation can change you or maybe it only seems that way in retrospect. During my college search, I engaged in a conversation with some friends from high school who spoke much about Ashesi University College. I had no clue what and where this institution was but my friends made quite a big deal about the college so I decided to check out the website. I was so impressed that it suddenly struck me why not Ashesi?
Ashesi is the only college in Ghana that has adopted and blended the Liberal Arts method of education in Computer science, Management Information System and Business Administration. This is where students get to think critically and analytically; no need for “chew and pour” as I had experienced in the first seventeen years of my life, there is after all reasoning behind every thought and theory. What is even more is the close relationship that one gets to build with faculty and staff; the gap between student and faculty is almost non- existent. Ashesi’s small class room size also influenced my decision as it enhances interaction amongst peers and also faculty.
At Ashesi, growing as a person is as much a part of your education as your academic studies. The College offers opportunities that are key to helping you discover who you are and what you want to become. The leadership and career service programs are a few of such. Today, I have a clearly defined map of my career path through exposure to multinational companies such as International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) and NewWorld Renaissance Investments Ltd. (Renaissance Group). My experience at Ashesi has brought to me the importance of my contribution to the leadership of this country and the world at large and I intend to fully maximize the leadership skills I have acquired over the years wherever I may find myself.
Joining the Ashesi family is definitely the best decision I ever made; three years down the lane and I have no regrets. If I had to go back in time and choose any college of my choice, I would make the same choice. Ashesi University College is truly the perfect environment for anyone who yearns for greater experience, greater challenges and deeper friendships not only for the next four years of his or her life but for a lifetime.
