01. Inclusion Training

The team fosters an inclusive campus by providing training, raising awareness, and advising on disability support. These efforts ensure equal opportunities for academic and social participation.

02. Sign Language Services

We offer sign language workshops and interpretation to improve communication with deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. Persons with disabilities and university teams can request such services.

03. Alternative Formats

We also offer alternative formats to support learning, including transcription, large-format printing, captioning, screen readers (JAWS and NVDA), and quiet study spaces for focused work.

Reasonable Accomodation Requests

Staff, students, and faculty seeking accommodation must provide appropriate educational, psychological, or medical documentation from a qualified and certified professional that validates the necessity for specific accommodation. If you do not have the required documentation, please contact our Office for guidance on obtaining it.

Complete the self-disclosure form to disclose your disability. If you are unsure of the accommodation you need, note this in the form’s accommodation and services request field, and the services team will work with you through this process.

Documentation: We will need documentation from a licensed care provider notating the diagnosis, functional limitations, and recommendations. A digital copy of your documentation should be uploaded as part of the request form. Otherwise, contact the accessibility services team to direct you on how documentation can be accessed. All information provided to the team is kept confidential and is only utilized to determine and implement reasonable accommodation.

Note: You do not need to RE-REGISTER If you are already registered and need to alter your accommodation request based on changes in your condition; instead, book an appointment to review and update your established accommodation. We may ask for additional documentation.

After completing step one, the services team will contact and connect you to a relevant evaluator to validate your documentation or help you obtain one, and work with you to establish your reasonable accommodations.

The evaluator, after having a thorough conversation to establish your reasonable accommodation, will then complete a request form on your behalf that will indicate all the agreed reasonable accommodations for your situation. They will then communicate to the services team to set up your accommodation with the relevant stakeholders across campus, and support implementation of your accommodation.

The team will continue to work with both persons with disabilities and relevant stakeholders to ensure that the established accommodation is being provided and that any needed support or challenges that may arise are being addressed. This process continues until the accommodation is no longer needed.

Since accommodation varies and needs change, renewing your request for accommodation every semester before classes begin is important. Thus, renew your accommodation requests every semester to ensure support services align with current needs and course requirements.
