Provost's Office
The Provost is the Chief Academic Officer directly responsible for overseeing the overall academic integrity of the university and advising the President on academic matters. The Office of the Provost cultivates an intellectual learning community by nourishing student ownership and influence on what they learn as scholars and servant leaders and fostering teaching excellence for student learning, responsible scholarship, and service in faculty.
About Prof. Angela Owusu-Ansah
Professor Angela Owusu-Ansah brings more than thirty years of academic and administrative experience in the United States and Ghana, to her current role as provost of Ashesi University. A member of the Phi Kappa Phi community of scholars and professionals, she strives for higher education quality serving on national university accreditation agency boards such as the Ghana Tertiary Education Council (GTEC) and serving 18 years on the United States Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP, formerly NCATE).
With her education background in behaviour statistics, she is a proponent of measuring impact of higher education quality. She has contributed to the development of Africa’s first university ranking system designed to embolden southern theory, systems change in Africa’s universities, the continent, and better higher education quality.
Angela is trained in higher education leadership and has served as Samford University’s assistant dean of Education Assessment; Elon University’s associate dean of the School of Education and associate dean of access and success; and a board member on one of the ten Regional Education Laboratories (SERVE) in the United States contributing to policy direction and implementation to support research in education.
She has deepened her experiences in e-learning and digital education and is actively involved in developing information systems, such as Learning Management Systems, for African universities. She is growing in the scholarship of teaching and learning for optimization of faculty instruction, the science of learning to improve student learning, and research capacity building to advance higher education outcomes and African communities.
Her research interest is in impact evaluation and change in Africa’s higher education, specifically digitized higher education instruction, the scholarship of higher education teaching and learning as a science, and data for the future of African higher education ML and research on the continent for change.
We deliver courses with rigor comparable to that of any other high-quality university in the world, through a curriculum tailored to the African context.
