A Beautiful Campus

Our ever-growing campus, a 60-minute drive from Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport,  combines traditional design, modern technology, and environmental best practices to create a base for convening and collaboration. Press play below to join students Thembani Ngwenya ’26 and Daryll Dufu ’26 on a tour of our campus.

A 60-minute drive from the Kotoka International Airport, our campus combines traditional design, modern technology, and environmental best practices to create an inspiring base for young leaders across Africa to convene and collaborate.

Most class sizes at Ashesi are small, and our classrooms and labs are mostly flexible spaces for different kinds of in-class activities. Our labs and workshops also feature tools and equipment, from 3D printers to laser cutters, to support advanced hands-on learning, research, and innovation.

Nearly all students live on campus or within walking distance of the campus in third-party student housing. Ashesi also provides many spaces to experience the outdoors for students who prefer it. There are spaces for various activities, whether for sport and exercise, or learning and reflection.

Ralph and Chris Sutherland

Meet Our Campus Architects:
Sutherland & Sutherland

Sutherland & Sutherland is an architectural firm that has been practising in the design space in Ghana since 1996, having grown from Ralph’s Studio. The firm developed Ashesi’s campus master plan, incorporating early designs from a team of architecture students from UC Berkeley. Since 2008, Sutherland & Sutherland has designed all of Ashesi’s buildings and spaces.

Housing, Recreation & Dining

Our campus is a second home for students—spaces across campus support dining, recreation, and extra-curricular activity and programming.

Nearly half of all students live in on-campus housing, with others living in private housing facilities within walking distance of campus. Like the rest of campus, our dorms are built to foster community and cultural learning. With over 30 countries represented on campus, students will find many opportunities for making new friendships and learning about different parts of the world.
