Dr. Myma Belo-Osagie, Partner Emerita (Of Counsel) at Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie, will be the Guest Speaker for Ashesi’s Class of 2021 Commencement Ceremony. She brings decades of legal and philanthropic leadership experience.
Dr. Belo-Osagie (neé Bentsi-Enchill) co-founded Udo Udoma & Belo-Oosagie in 1985. At the firm, she specialised in advising on financing, general corporate and commercial matters and compliance and corporate governance in the Energy, Natural Resources, Environmental, Telecommunications, and FMCG sectors and built a reputation as a leading authority on Nigerian petroleum regulations, Nigerian environmental law, and foreign investment in Nigeria.
She is a non-executive Director on many international and Nigerian Boards, a member of several global/advisory Boards and a trustee on the Board of several non-profit organisations, including the African Leadership Academy, Corona Schools Trust Council, the Growing Businesses Foundation, the African Wildlife Foundation, and the Arts and Business Foundation. She is also an International Honourary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Dr. Belo-Osagie holds an LL.B. (1975) from the University of Ghana and an LL.M (1978) and SJD (1985) from Harvard Law School. She was called to the Ghana Bar in 1977, the same year that she graduated from the Ghana Law School. She was subsequently called to the New York Bar in 1983. She also attended the Nigeria Law School from 1983 to 1984 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1984.
