On June 3rd, Ashesi will welcome hundreds of families, friends, students, and alumni to campus for the Commencement Ceremony of the Class of 2023. Christabel Otuko Kuwornu-Adjaottor ’23, nominated by her colleagues, will serve as the Speaker for the 2023 graduating class. Christabel was born in Takoradi in the Western Region of Ghana. In high school, her love grew for accounting after discovering she could become a Chartered Accountant like her father. After graduating from Mfantseman Girls’ Senior High School, she applied to Ashesi to study Business Administration.
“My journey at Ashesi has been fantastic,” shared Christabel. “I look forward to all the cheer and laughter on Commencement day, and I am honoured to tell the story of our journey on this hill.”
While at Ashesi, Christabel served as the Head of the Ashesi Basketball Association’s Finance Committee. She also served on the Ashesi Student Council’s Finance Committee for the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic years. Christabel also takes pride in her time as a pre-calculus and college algebra mathematics tutor.
“Ashesi put me to the test and brought challenges my way, but by God’s grace, I made it,” she shares. “I look forward to turning my tassel to the left and being awarded my degree. As I move forward, I hope to help strengthen corporate governance in Ghana by becoming a forensic accountant and a corporate lawyer.”
