Isaac Bekoe Reflects on His First Week at Ashesi

There is a special feeling that comes with arriving at a place you could only dream of. When I first got to Ashesi, I had many thoughts on my mind, fears of the unknown, and the joy that comes with moving into a new institution. I wasn’t sure what to expect, so I found myself asking questions like, “Will I find my way around campus?” Will I manage the workload? And how soon is too soon to get lost?

Ashesi is a dream school for many students because of its unique approach to teaching and learning. Still, I was worried about adjusting to new learning methods that are very different from what I was used to in high school. But from the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed. There are so many support systems in place to help students settle in. The resident assistants are always available, school leaders keep their doors open, and students relate to one another warmly, regardless of background, culture, or nationality.

One thing that really stands out about Ashesi is its strong emphasis on cultural diversity. Interacting with people from different countries has opened my eyes to new perspectives and helped me see how much we share as Africans. In just a few days on campus, my expectations have already changed. The friendships I have started building and the experiences I have had so far have made me even more confident that Ashesi is the right place for me. Here, learning is not just about sitting in class. It is something to be enjoyed. The fun atmosphere, social events, and engaging sessions make campus life exciting and lively.

Looking ahead, I see myself growing into a well-rounded person who values ethical leadership, innovation, and finding solutions to Africa’s challenges. I look forward to building lifelong friendships and making the most of everything Ashesi has to offer. I am excited about the journey ahead and all the experiences that come with being part of this amazing community.
