On Saturday, June 24th, 167 members of Ashesi’s Class of 2017 will be celebrating their years as students at our 13th Commencement Ceremony. Members of the class will be receiving Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration, Computer Science and Management Information Systems. The ceremony will be held at Ashesi’s campus in Berekuso, and nearly 2,000 family, alumni, friends and guests are expected.

Guest Speaker for this year’s Commencement Ceremony, is Mike Nyinaku (FCCA), CEO of the BEIGE Group. A professional accountant by training and architect at heart, Mr. Nyianku prefers to be referred to as a student of entrepreneurship. He founded BEIGE in 2008 after a decade of a successful career as a Professional Accountant. BEIGE is now a financial services provider with subsidiaries providing Banking, Pensions, Insurance & Funds Management Services.
Together with its direct subsidiaries and other investee companies, BEIGE is providing direct employment to about 5,000 people while impacting on more than 20,000 individuals and economic units on a daily basis. The BEIGE Foundation (BF) is also another initiative of Mike Nyinaku. Established on the principles of integrity and self-belief, BF promotes youth and social development through a variety of sponsored programs implemented across Ghana.
In 2012, at the national youth awards ceremony, Mr. Nyinaku was recognized by the then president of Ghana as both the youth personality for finance, and the ultimate youth personality of Ghana, in recognition of his efforts at business development and employment creation. In 2016 he was recognized as the 6th most influential person in Ghana. In 2017 he again has been recognized as the most influential young business leader in Ghana. His ambition is to continue pursuing entrepreneurial aspirations as a means of influencing and inspiring a new breed of leaders from Africa.
As a role model of entrepreneurship success in Africa, Mr. Nyinaku represents an inspiring role model for the Class of 2017.
This year’s Class Speaker will be Aba Wilmot ’17. A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration candidate, graduating Magna Cum Laude, Aba Wilmot hopes to inspire her classmates and guests presents through her address.
