Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC, in partnership with Ashesi University’s Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC), has inducted ten female entrepreneurs into the fifth cohort of the Futuremakers Women in Tech (FWIT) Accelerator Program.
The induction ceremony, held at Standard Chartered’s head office, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to advancing gender inclusion and creating opportunities for women-led, tech-enabled ventures in Ghana.
Launched in 2020 under Standard Chartered’s global Futuremakers initiative and funded by the Standard Chartered Foundation, the FWIT Accelerator equips women entrepreneurs with training, tools, and funding to grow and scale their businesses. Since inception, the program has supported 74 enterprises, with 21 beneficiaries receiving USD 210,000 in equity-free grants. Globally, FWIT has empowered more than 4,000 women across diverse sectors, including agriculture, health, education, renewable energy, and sustainability.
Delivering the keynote address, Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu, 2nd Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, shared, “When women entrepreneurs thrive, economies grow stronger. Today’s inductees represent the bold vision we need for an inclusive digital economy.”
