Mustafa Khammash (PhD)

Mustafa Khammash has been a Professor of Control Theory and Systems Biology at the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE) since 2011.
He was born in Amman, Jordan, in 1964.
Mustafa Khammash completed a BS in Electrical Engineering at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, USA, in 1984 and a PhD in Electrical Engineering at Rice University, Houston, TX, USA, in 1990.
He was an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering from 1990 to 1995 and an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering from 1995 to 2001 at Iowa State University in Ames, IA, USA. In 2001 he was visiting professor at Caltech, the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, CA, USA, before returning to Iowa State University as a Full Professor of Electrical Engineering.
In 2002 Mustafa Khammash was appointed as a Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), where he remained until joining ETH Zurich in 2011.
From 2005 to 2011 he was Director of the Centre for Control, Dynamical-Systems and Computations at UCSB. In autumn 2009 Mustafa Khammash was a visiting professor at ETH Zurich.
