Prof. J. Michael Rifenburg is an Associate Professor of English at the University of North Georgia (UNG), where he serves as Co-Director of First-Year Composition and Senior Faculty Fellow for Scholarly Writing at UNG’s Center for Teaching, Learning, and Leadership. He is the author of The Embodied Playbook: Writing Practices of Student-Athletes (Utah State University Press, 2018) and co-editor of Contemporary Perspectives on Cognition and Writing (WAC Clearinghouse, 2017). His forthcoming book, Drilled to Write: A Longitudinal Study of a Cadet at a Senior Military College, is currently under contract.
Prof. Rifenburg holds a Ph.D. in Composition, Rhetoric, and Literacy from the University of Oklahoma, an M.A. in Rhetoric and Composition from Auburn University, and a B.A. in English from Georgia College & State University.
He currently serves as Co-Editor of the Perspectives on Writing book series (WAC Clearinghouse) and as President of ISSOTL at the University of North Georgia. His research interests include composition pedagogies, writing program administration, longitudinal studies, literacy studies, and research methods and methodologies.
