I am an academic, consultant and entrepreneur. I teach Competitive Strategy and Foundations in Design and Entrepreneurship.
My teaching philosophy thus far has been centred on bridging students’ existing knowledge to new to information/teaching material and I do this through my dialectic teaching style. When I teach, my approach is to always understand the learners, their level of knowledge about the content and their learning styles then I adopt a dialectic style to deliver the teaching material. This dialectic teaching style is then executed with several real world case studies and practical examples to ensure content mastery. To ensure experiential learning has taken place, I frequently use in-class presentations, group discussion/peer-to-peer learning, research assignments and in recent times the flipped classroom approach to present learners with an opportunity to implement and “live out” what they have learned. I believe strongly that when I lecturer I am contributing to shaping Africa’s future by helping the minds of the continents next generation of leaders.
Beyond academia, I am a consultant and entrepreneur. As a consultant, I am the managing partner of Edip Consulting Group, an SME consulting firm with the vision of transforming Africa one small business at a time. My belief is that SMEs will be a catalyst in Africa’s overdue economic transformation so my consulting work is aimed at making Ghanaian SMEs internationally and globally competitive so they can contribute their quota to Africa’s development. As an entrepreneur, I lead a freight forwarding and logistics firm.
I am a proponent of academics being practitioners so I juggle in these different spaces to enrich my work and as scholar and intellectual wanting to bring about macro changes in Africa thought my micro efforts.
