Jewel Thompson

Jewel N. Thompson is passionate about the intersections of technology and the social cultural underpinnings that drive societies. She’s a Lecturer of Entrepreneurship at Ashesi University. She is the faculty lead for the first-year course Foundations of Design and Entrepreneurship and the Entrepreneurship Concentration Area Lead.
She co-developed the Ashesi Venture Incubator of the NEXT (New Entrepreneurs Xchange for Transformation) Idea to Impact Project a collaboration between Ashesi and MIT D-Lab. She also co-developed the Ashesi Kalangu Module entitled Creative Approaches to Africa’s Development. As a recipient of the 2022 grant from USAID/ANDE Action Lab Gender Equality Action Lab, she led a team of key African business ecosystem players to develop African Women Amplified (AWA) a platform that will close the funding gap for West African Women entrepreneurs.
She and her former student were honorees in the 2021 FAST Company World Changing Ideas Award for their development of a platform supporting Mental well-being in African college students.
