James Atambilla Abugre (PhD)

Full-time: Finance

James Atambilla Abugre is Financial Economist and a PhD in Finance holder from the University of Ghana Business School. He is a senior Economic and Development planning expert in Ghana with vast experience in development finance, development planning and management, public policy administration, monitoring and evaluation and local governance.

He holds an MPhil in Economics from University of Ghana, a BA in Integrated Development Studies with specialization in economics and entrepreneurship from the University for Development Studies and a Post-chartered Diploma in Advanced Business Analytics from the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana. He is a member of the Ghana Institute of Planning and Commonwealth Association of Planners. James is recognized for delivering practical graduate-level and undergraduate lectures in FinTech, advanced research methods, corporate finance, econometrics, macro and micro economics, and monetary economics to enhance individual student success.

James has contributed to several book chapters with renowned scholars in different fields which have been published in reputable journals. He has also published widely, empirical papers in economics and finance covering many topics of relevance in contemporary developments. His research interests include monetary economics and policy, financial technology and inclusion, financial development, corporate finance and governance, development economics and planning and international economics. He is committed to ongoing research to bridge academia and industry through innovative research, interdisciplinary and industry collaboration and equipping future finance professionals with theoretical and practical insights. James has taught many courses at the graduate and undergraduate level including macro and micro economics, corporate finance, financial economics and econometrics, development economics, public finance, Risk planning and management, public policy and monitoring and evaluation at the University of Ghana. He is currently lecturing Research Methods at the Ashesi University in Ghana.
