Dr. Nancy Chick

Nancy Chick is a SoTL scholar, scholarly teacher, and faculty developer. In 2011, she left full-time faculty work as an English professor to focus on the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and faculty development first at Vanderbilt University, the University of Calgary, Rollins College, and now Texas Woman’s University, where she is the Executive Director of Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship and Professor of English.  She has authored and co-authored numerous articles and book chapters on the results of SoTL projects and on the field of SoTL, and her book The SoTL Guide: (Re)Orienting the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, co-written with Peter Felten and Katarina Mårtensson, will be published in mid-2025. Nancy also has an extensive editing background in both journals and books, including serving as the founding co-editor of Teaching & Learning Inquiry, ISSOTL’s journal. From 2019-22, she served on the ISSOTL presidential team and was ISSOTL co-president during 2020-21—at the height of the pandemic—and was ISSOTL’s inaugural Historian. She was presented with an ISSOTL Distinguished Service Award in 2017.
