Dr. Kamal Yakubu

Kamal Yakubu is the Capacity Building Manager (Advanced Track) at Afrobarometer. In this role, he leads the conceptualization and delivery of advanced training initiatives across the continent, collaborating with faculty, researchers, and civil society actors to strengthen analytical capacity and deepen the use of public opinion data in both academic and policy spaces. Kamal holds a PhD in Development Policy and Practice and an MA in Economic History, both from the University of Cape Town. His academic and professional journey reflects a sustained commitment to building research infrastructure and evidence ecosystems that center African perspectives. With over a decade of experience in teaching, mentoring, and applied research, Kamal has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and regularly facilitates capacity-strengthening workshops. Based in Ghana, he is particularly passionate about democratizing access to data, fostering inclusive research communities, and advancing policy solutions grounded in robust, context-sensitive evidence.
