Jan Seiler (PhD)
Guest Faculty Member Full-time at ETH Zürich, Mechatronics Engineering*
Jan Seiler studied mechanichal engineering specialising in energy engineering at RWTH Aachen University, Germany. He received his bachelor’s degree with his bachelor thesis “Conceptual design of biomass dissolution and fractionation processes with ionic liquids” and was awarded a scholarship from the “Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes” (German Academic Scholarship Foundation). Jan graduated in the specilisation regenerative energy engineering with his master thesis “Simulation and experimental validation of the effect of the adsorbent on the adsorption heat pump process”.
In the end of 2013, Jan started work on his Ph.D.-thesis at the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics at RWTH Aachen University, under supervision of Professor André Bardow. The research spanned from application of adsorption processes for energy-related problems to phase changes processes of the natural refrigerant water. Starting in 2018, Jan led the research group “Sorption System Engineering” at the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics at RWTH Aachen University.
In the end of 2020, Jan has joined the Energy and Process Systems Engineering Group at ETH Zurich, managed by Professor André Bardow.
