David Sasu (PhD)
Archer Cornfield Fellow: Computer Science
Dr. David Sasu is a SwissAI Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), where he also serves as Technology Director for the Laboratory of Intelligent Global Health and Humanitarian Response Technologies (LiGHT), which is jointly based at EPFL and the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health via Ariadne Labs. In this role, he contributes to advancing equitable and reliable artificial intelligence systems for high-stakes healthcare decision-making, particularly in low-resource settings, by integrating clinical expertise, rigorous evaluation, and diverse datasets to mitigate bias. Dr. Sasu is also an Archer-Cornfield Fellow at Ashesi University. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the IT University of Copenhagen, where he was a member of the NLPnorth research unit. During his doctoral studies, he worked as a Researcher at Apple within its Machine Learning Research organization and was a Visiting Researcher at Columbia University in the Spoken Language Processing Group. He also holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Ashesi University and an M.S. in Computer Science from the IT University of Copenhagen.
