Afia Agyeman Amponsah-Mensah

Afia Agyeman Amponsah is a Lecturer with the Ashesi Law Faculty. She has an LLB from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. After obtaining her LLB., she went on to pursue an LLM in the same institution writing a thesis on “Mobile Money in Ghana; The need for a Regulatory framework” which was considered as one of the best papers of her graduating class.
Ms. Amponsah-Mensah has published many articles including an article on “Ponzi Schemes in Ghana: A Case of the Menzgold Saga” which was published in the Africa Journal of Comparative and International Law and selected as the Featured Article of the Journal’s edition. Before joining Ashesi, Ms. Amponsah-Mensah lectured at the UPSA Law School where she taught Energy Law, Law and Accountable Institutions, Contract and Company law. She brings a wealth of experience from working in different sectors such as journalism, insurance and the law. Her research interests are Oil and Gas Law, Energy Transition & Climate Change, Constitutional Law and Democratic Governance and Financial Regulation.
Ms. Amponsah-Mensah believes that students are the centre of interest in the academic process and she aims to empower students to apply the legal principles taught to address real-life problems and situations.
