Intellect Building Program (IBP) Speaker Session with Prof. Patricia Mawuli Porter

The Intellect Building Program (IBP) hosts a virtual speaker session with Professor Patricia Mawuli Porter, a pioneering Ghanaian aviator, engineer, and entrepreneur joining from Wales.

In this session, Prof. Porter will share her experiences and perspectives on women in engineering, resilience, leadership, and impact. Participants will gain insight into her journey in aviation, her historic achievements, and her work advancing engineering education and industry pathways.

Patricia Mawuli Porter is an accomplished aviator and engineer whose career spans aircraft design, manufacturing, inspection, and global aviation advocacy. She began her aviation career at a remote airstrip and went on to achieve several historic milestones, including becoming the first civilian woman in Ghana to earn a pilot’s licence, the first woman globally factory-trained as an iRMT by Rotax Aircraft Engines, and the first Black female aircraft inspector in the UK for both the BMAA and the LAA. She is a founding director of Metal Seagulls Ltd. and Fafali Aircraft, leading a light-aircraft design, build, and support facility based at Haverfordwest Airport in Wales.
