Ashesi President Patrick Awuah joined nine other speakers at Emerson Collective’s 2024 Demo Day to share insights from Ashesi’s transformative work in higher education across Africa. Held on Friday, November 22, the annual Demo Day convenes leaders from Emerson Collective’s partnership network to present bold ideas spanning fields like the arts, education, and healthcare. On stage, Patrick Awuah highlighted the impactful work of Ashesi’s Education Collaborative and its ambitious vision to improve learning outcomes for hundreds of thousands of African students within the next decade.
“With the right education—one that develops citizens and leaders capable of creating high-trust, high-performance economies—Africa will flourish and contribute to a better world,” he shared. “So, we asked ourselves: what would it take to scale to the size of this opportunity? No institution can achieve such scale alone. But what if we could leverage the power of the collective to enhance the quality and impact of African universities across the continent?”
Now in its eighth year, the Education Collaborative has engaged educators from half of Africa’s countries. In 2025, it will hold its annual convening in Rwanda, marking the first time this flagship event will take place outside Ghana—a significant milestone in its growing continental network.
