Double the impact: our two-in-one 2023 career fair

In brief:

  • This year’s career fair was held across two days – the first for a virtual fair and the second for an in-person. A total of 74 companies across 16 industries participated over the two days.
  • The fair saw strong engagement, with 1060 individual meetings and 50 group discussions hosted between employers and participants. 69% of participating organisations conducted hiring interviews.

The decision to host a hybrid event came from the success of virtual fairs during the COVID-19 pandemic. The hybrid format offered greater flexibility in attendance and allowed for a broader audience, including students, alumni, and employers worldwide. With 20% of Ashesi’s students being non-Ghanaians across Africa, the Career Services Office hopes that virtual fairs allow more African organisations to interact with the Ashesi community.

“We want to allow more companies to engage in our career fairs,” said Alberta Amankwah, Career Development Officer in Ashesi’s Career Services Office, explaining that this years’ fair welcomed organisations from Nigeria and Kenya. “It increases opportunities for our international students to build employer relationships in their countries, which would be helpful once they return home.”
