LLB424 Commercial Law

This branch of the law regulates trade in the supply of goods and services. Commercial Law I focuses on the aspects of commercial law that have been statutorily regulated in Ghana.  For ease of digestion, it is taught in two parts. The first focuses on the Sale of Goods and the latter half of the semester is dedicated to hire purchase and conditional sale transactions

The course aims to equip students to:

  1. acquire a good grasp of the rights, duties, and obligations of the parties to the various commercial agreements.
  2. appreciate the legal implications of the statutory provisions governing the relevant trade transactions.
  3. identify legal issues arising from the formation, performance, and breach of these commercial agreements
  4. competently apply the statutory provisions and case law to the resolution of issues arising out of such transactions

  • Formation of Hire Purchase Agreements.
  • Right of Termination and Consequences; Hirer’s Right of Completion of Agreement, Restriction on Owner’s Right of Recovery.
