A summary of effluent quality tests conducted from January through to December of 2016. 

Note: The treated effluent quality test results revealed that Ashesi did not meet the WHO/EPA Standards for Total Coliform and E-coli in January, February, May and June, 2016. This was because, Ashesi’s old biogas plant/digester (80m3) did not have the capacity to hold the waste for a longer period of time. The longer the residence time for the waste, the better the quality of the effluent that comes out. 

However, after taking over the new biogas plant (320m3) in June, the quality of the effluent improved from July, 2016 as shown in the table above.
