Ashesi’s 10th Anniversary Homecoming

Ashesi’s tenth anniversary climaxed with the Homecoming ceremony. Over the years, Ashesi has sent about 300 graduates into the corporate, community-service oriented and ‘freelancing’ worlds. In short, Ashesi graduates continue to blaze the trail in the real world and are constantly being commended for the exceptional touch they provide at their various workplaces.

As part of the tenth anniversary celebration, the Homecoming ceremony was organized to welcome back Ashesi’s alumni to interact with current students and also share their insights on life after Ashesi. It was also a refreshing time for old friends to meet again. Crowds of alumni braved first the terrible Berekuso road, and secondly the inclement weather conditions to visit their alma mater.

After a welcome ceremony, a luncheon and a meeting with some members of the Executive Committee of the school, they were not ready to leave. The football match between the alumni squad a select current school squad, had been on everyone’s mind. The week had been full of back-and-forths between alumni and current students about which side would win. So when the rains came down heavily, around 3pm, it was not enough to deter the working men and students from this duel.

The pregame bad mouthing and debating was probably more fun than the game itself, unfortunately. Neither side looked nearly as impressive as expected. Though the game ended one goal to the current student’s team, the fans more than enjoyed themselves.
