Ashesi University is pleased to welcome Naa Akwetey as Chief Operating Officer, effective June 2025. With over a decade of experience spanning finance, strategy, and operations, Akwetey joins Ashesi at a time of significant institutional growth. In her role, she also serves as a member of Ashesi’s Executive Team.

Akwetey holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Economics and Management Science (Finance) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Master of Science in Risk and Stochastics from the London School of Economics. She has also completed the CFA Level 1 certification. While at MIT, she served as a research analyst for the Billion Prices Project—an innovative initiative that collects real-time online price data to inform global economic analysis—and later supported its commercial arm PriceStats, developed in partnership with State Street Global Markets.

Most recently, Akwetey served as Chief Operating Officer at mPharma, where she was responsible for strategy and operational efficiency across the group, as well as the company’s portfolio of social-impact and patient-centered solutions. Before mPharma, she worked as an economist with KPMG UK’s Transfer Pricing team.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Akwetey is deeply committed to service and mentorship. She volunteers with several non-profit organizations and supports middle and high school students in their academic and career journeys.
