For the past ten years, the Ghana Climate Innovation Center (GCIC) at Ashesi has been shaping Ghana’s green economy through entrepreneurship, policy engagement, and ecosystem development. The Center has empowered hundreds of climate-smart ventures, influenced national policy, and built partnerships that continue to drive inclusive and sustainable growth.
Established in 2016, the Center contributes to a climate-resilient economy in Ghana by enabling climate businesses, empowering women, and creating dignified employment opportunities. It helps turn environmental challenges into opportunities for growth through hands-on support, research, and partnerships that advance sustainability and inclusion.
Climate Innovation Center Launches in Ghana to Boost Clean Tech Startups
The climate technology hub is geared to help over 100 local clean technology businesses grow and commercialize innovative solutions to climate change.
Canada Commits Support to Advance Climate Innovation in Ghana
Recognising the GCIC’s work in climate adaptation since 2016, Global Affairs Canada and Ashesi University signed a four-year partnership in August 2021 to expand the Center’s mandate.
GIZ Partners With GCIC To Boost Green Entrepreneurship

In October of 2025, Pearl Esua-Mensah was appointed as the new Executive Director of the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC). With over 25 years of distinguished leadership across finance, governance, entrepreneurship, and institutional transformation in Africa and the UK, Pearl brings a wealth of expertise to this role.
7th Annual Incubating Climate Innovation Symposium
At the 2025 Incubating Climate Innovation Symposium, GCIC brought together more than 130 policymakers, entrepreneurs, and partners under the theme “Building for Scale: Action for Greater Impact.”

GCIC Incubatee Mariseth Farms Secures $560,000 to Boost Soybean Farming & Empower Farmers
This investment allows Mariseth Farms’ to sgnificantly scale production and aggregation of soybean in Tumu in the Upper West Region. It ensures broader and fairer market access while profoundly enhancing the livelihoods of over 8,000 smallholder farmers in the town, a majority of whom are women.
GCIC and Farmerline Partner to Impact Over 12,000 Farmers
The Ghana Climate Innovation Center (GCIC) partnered with Farmerline, a leading AgriTech business that has reached 2.2 million farmers through 3,000+ partners across 48 countries, to launch a new AGRI-SME incubation track.
By December 2024, this initiative aims to nurture 10 agri-businesses and subsequently benefit over 12,000 smaller farm holdings from several regions in the country.
