Ashesi lecturer becomes sixth Ghanaian to be awarded Fellowship in the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK


Head of the Business Administration department at Ashesi, Anthony Ebow Spio, has been awarded Fellowship status in the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK. Fellowship is the highest recognition CIM UK confers on its members. It is awarded to a marketing professional with proven record of expertise, experience, success and a high degree of responsibility in marketing operations. Ebow becomes the sixth Ghanaian to have awarded Fellowship status in CIM UK.
Ashesi lecturer becomes sixth Ghanaian to be awarded Fellowship in the history of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UKAt Ashesi, Ebow teaches Marketing, Competitive Strategy, Services Marketing, and Strategic Brand Management. He is also a member of the Duke Corporate Education Global Learning Resource Network. He has over 20 years of progressive and responsible business management, marketing strategy development, brand management and brand communication development experience in industry. 

He served as the General Manager of DiscoveryTel Ghana, and has also worked for Unilever for 16 years in Ghana and Nigeria, leading teams to manage successful household brands such as Omo, Key Soap, Royco, Sunlight, Blue Band and Lipton. He co-founded and directed Spio & Spio Consulting, a firm that specialized in advising SMEs, and Beacon Books Company between 2006 and 2010. He has consulted and worked on training assignments for the British Council, World Bank, Barclays Bank, International Trade Centre, Brand Ghana Office and SMEs in Ghana.  

Ebow’s expertise and research interests include branding, entrepreneurship and enterprise development, marketing communication, strategy development, local economic development, and ethics in business. He has published articles in reputable journals and written book chapters on place branding.
