Ashesi Career Services Office holds Employers Forum

August 30, 2017, Accra – Over 60 companies attended the Ashesi Employers Forum held at the British Council Hall, Accra, Ghana.

Organized by the Ashesi’s Career Services Office, the forum brought together over 100 representatives from companies from a cross section of industries across the country. The forum was designed to facilitate dialogue between employers and Ashesi on various career developmental levels and expectations.

“We recognize the centrality of employer engagement in enhancing and supporting student employability through the creation of graduates with the appropriate skills, knowledge and expertise required by employers,” said Abigail Welbeck, Associate Director of Career Services Office.  “Input from industry and employers is central to ensuring not only are we delivering on this front but also that our training remains relevant, valid and current.”

The forum was also an opportunity for companies to provide feedback and share their expectations of Ashesi students and graduates within their firms. It was also a platform to understand the role of the Ashesi’s Career Services department in preparing students for the working world.

Over the years Ashesi, has steadily built partnerships with both local and global employers, helping to create a sustainable pipeline to help fill a wide range of roles in the corporate world. Through programs like the Employers Forum, the annual Career Fair and the Corporate Council, the Career Services Office gains insight into how they can better prepare students to meet the needs of organisations.
