Romeo’s life path was not always clear.  When he was in primary and junior secondary school he often had to drop out because his family could not afford to pay even the small fees it cost to attend.  Romeo did not give up and borrowed books from friends in the neighborhood to study on his own.  Through his perseverance Romeo excelled and scored high enough on the standardized secondary school entrance exam to enroll at one of the top public secondary schools in the country, St. Augustine’s College.

Romeo graduated from St. Augustine’s College in 2004 with the highest score possible on the West African Standardized Secondary School Examination.  While at St. Augustine’s College, Romeo served as Class Prefect and Entertainment Prefect for the school. In his free time Romeo served as a peer tutor for friends who were struggling in school. After graduation from secondary school he was admitted to the University of Ghana, Legon, but could not attend because his family could not afford the fees.  We gave him a scholarship to allow him to attend Ashesi because we believed he had the potential to be a future leader.

After gaining admission to Ashesi Romeo went on to become the President of the Ashesi Student Council in 2009.  He conducted researched and co-authored a paper on the implementation of the One-Laptop-Per-Child project in Ghana with Dr. Suzanne Buchelle.  Romeo majored in Management Information Systems and wrote his senior thesis on how to implement a paperless office in Ghana.

After graduation Romeo was hired by General Electric Corporation and works as a Business Analyst.  He is helping GE find new markets for their products in Ghana and West Africa.
