Celebrating a decade of Ashesi
This celebration week marks a significant milestone in Ashesi’s history, and will stay a mark of things to come. As former Ashesi Student Council President, Kwadwo Owusu-Adjei ’13, rightly said in his address at the celebration launch, “if they ask you who Ashesi is, don’t be confused or even stutter about the answer. No we’re not the Harvard of Africa, the Stanford of West Africa or the MIT of Ghana; we are the Ashesi of the world.” Click here to read more
Festus A. Agoabasa ’12 – from Gardener to Programs Assistant
Each year, Ashesi’s generous scholarship programme provides educational opportunities to students who otherwise could not have afforded them. Ashesi alumnus Festus Agoabasa ’12, once a gardener on campus, shares the story of how an Ashesi scholarship touched his life, and gave him a new direction.

Ashesi ranked among Ghana’s ten most respected organisations
Ashesi University is awarded the 7th Most Respected Company in Ghana for the year 2012, and our Founder and President, Patrick Awuah, is also named the 4th Most Respected CEO in Ghana. Ashesi becomes the first educational institution to have received a Most Respected Company award in Ghana. Click here to read more
Ashesi named one of nine top universities participating in The MasterCard Foundation’s $500 million Scholars Program
The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program is an education initiative that will provide talented but financially disadvantaged students in developing countries – particularly in Africa – with strong support for secondary and university education. Ashesi joins a global network that that is pioneering the implementation of the Scholars Program, together with other world-class institutions such as the African Leadership Academy, University of California-Berkeley, Stanford University and Duke University.

Ashesi celebrates winners of first Ashesi Robotics Experience Competition
We announce the winners of our inaugural robotics competition, the Ashesi Robotics Experience (ARX) 2012. The four winning teams were culled from a field of 62 high school students from across Ghana participating in the program. The event, hosted in partnership with The MasterCard Foundation, aimed to encourage greater interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) among African high school students. Goodbyes and hellos, as Ashesi’s Class of 2016 moves in to campus
For the past ten years Ashesi has provided young Africans with a rich learning experience. This year, we celebrate our freshman class of 2016; 172 selected from a highly diverse pool of 818 applicants. The Class of 2016 represents Ashesi’s highest intake and most diverse class yet, with 51% of the class on scholarships and 84 high schools across the world being represented. Click here to read more
Leading through innovation at Ashesi: Patrick Awuah receives Haas School leadership award for starting Ashesi
In November this year, Ashesi’s President, Dr. Patrick Awuah, wins the Haas School Leading Through Innovation award. Patrick received the award for his bold, innovative leadership in founding Ashesi University, which is educating future ethical, entrepreneurial leaders with the courage to transform Africa. Class of 2015 signs the Ashesi Honour Code
The Class of 2015 votes to sign on to the Ashesi Honour Code, and pledges to uphold the code and work to strengthen it. “Over our past year at Ashesi, we have come to develop an even stronger appreciation for the Ashesi Honour Code,” said Joseph Nti, a representative for the Class of 2015. “We understand what it means to us, our alma mater, its alumni and the entire community. Ashesi student community funds scholarship programme for Berekuso students
Earlier this year, the Ashesi Student Council started the Change Maker campaign to motivate and help the children of Berekuso’s schools by funding scholarships for the town’s best students to enter senior high school. Through the campaign, the ASC has successfully raised money from the Ashesi community to send Berekuso’s best student in this year’s senior high school entrance exams to his school of choice.

Goldman Sachs selects five Ashesi students for internships in London
The Ashesi students are the only participants from Ghana this year, and were selected from amongst applicants from universities across the country. The number of students this year is also the highest number Goldman Sachs has selected from Ashesi yet.
